This year our camping trip is to the Linville Gorge. We’ve been planning on going on a trip since last year when we went to Kentucky. In this episode, we discuss out plans for the trip, what we hope to accomplish and what we are taking. It’s not a real long episode, but I hope it helps you plan your next trip to somewhere new. Get outside and see something you haven’t before.Read More
As if we’ve never spoken about gear before, we decided to have a gear talk again. But this time with Daryl. Because who doesn’t enjoy talking about gear. We discuss our journey to great backpacks and some mishaps with stoves.
This was a really fun conversation about the problems we’ve had trying to find gear that we really enjoyed using for all of our trips.
Daryl joins us for another hiking discussion. David and I take this opportunity to discuss Kentucky once more. Since Daryl joined us on the trip, he details what he thought were highs and lows of the trips, if he’d do the trip again and some politics.
This week David, Daryl and I discuss our trip to the white mountains. The goal was to complete 10 summits and 23 miles of hiking in the white mountains.
Don’t take the whites for granted, they are a beautiful set of mountains, but they are rugged as can be. They will tire you out if you let them. If you plan a trip to New Hampshire to climb Mount Washington or any of the other presidential mountains, make sure you know what you’re getting into.
This week is a little different from our usual discussions. One of the many goals of this podcast is to interview people and discuss outdoor stories the way we do around the campfire. This week, David being busy, we have our first interview. I have some others in the que that will be coming soon.Read More
It may be one of those topics that drives people crazy. Taking your electronics outside with you. But David and I discuss why in 2017 it is important to use the devices we have to stay connected to people who may not be exploring with us.
We discuss some of the tech we bring out, including phones and external batteries. We geek out a bit about amps and wattage and volts and try to rein it back in a bit before people get too bored with us.
This week we discuss what it’s like to take Razo, my German Shorthaired pointer out for an over night camping trip in Myakka State Forrest. Which was a lot of fun recently. David discusses his plans for a camping trip with Target this spring as he gets his camping spot together on his hiking trips now. It’s not going to be cold forever in Connecticut, and once it warms up, Dave and Target plan on doing some camping.
Both David and I have shared stores of trips with our dogs before, and this is the Campin’ Canine, but we haven’t had any dedicated episodes to our dogs.
That changes now.
In Episode 11 we start to discuss how we taken our dogs out and why it’s important to take your dogs out and get them into the outdoors. At their center, they are outdoor animals, it’s good for them and it’s good for you.
